Actually the road to Banteay Chhmar from Siem Reap isn't bad at all...new paved highway to Sisaphon but for that last leg north it's a bit dusty. But not bad and a very comfortable 2 day adventure away from the more heavily touristed areas of the Angkor temples.

As for the face towers, only those towards the center of the temple are still standing. Groslier estimated 56 total towers on the site (not necessarily with faces).

As you note there are restoration efforts going on at Banteay Chhmar now. Another one is a Cambodian guide training program run by http://www.heritagewatchinternational.org/.

Yes, I am learning about Banteay Chhmar, as I think at the future will be many tourist to visit. Because now there is a project of the preservation and restoration by Global Heritage Funds collaborated with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Art of the Royal government of Cambodia.

Then when the road from Sisophon to temple site itself paving, then it's a hope for Banteay Chhmar to remove her name from the remote area.

From this point of view, Banteay Chhmar really comprises the 56 towers or 54 towers liked Bayon? Thank you

I don't know what happened to her, but that's a great question to pose to the National Museum staff. I just went through Khun Samen's book "Preah Neang Tevi" which includes many female statues but this one is not featured. If you learn more please let us know.
